Fantasy Rankings - Week 6

Y'all are making the weekly rankings a challenge, I thought this would be easier once we got closer to the half way point in the season. I was really hoping this would be the week where the good teams would separate themselves from the not so good teams. Didn't happen. It's more proof of how inconsistent the receivers and running backs have become in the NFL. Just when I thought I knew who our not so good teams were, they come to life. We have eight, yes 8 teams with a 3-3 record. The four remaining teams have a 5-1, 4-2, 2-4, 1-5 record. Can we get any more symmetrical?

	2 (5)	Dynasty	3-3-0	Leading in points scored by position for quarterback and wide receivers, second in total points scored overall. This team has again earned the high score of the week for second time this season. This team is on a roll....
	3 (6)	Crippled Monkeys	3-3-0	Third in total points scored overall. Just an all around solid scoring team from week to week. Only one week has seen scores under 100 points. However, this team needs to get on a winning streak for it to be a contender for the central division title.
	4 (3)	Big Daddy	3-3-0	Mediocre week from his players, second time with the low score of the week. This team can win when all players are contributing, but when they are having an off week, they become easy pickings. Will lose four players to the BYE in week 7.
	5 (7)	The Stud Stable	2-4-0	Solid squad that hasn't had that 'big' point week of it's own. Has scored over 100 points three times this season, topping out at 116 points. Just needs a few more points from it's 2nd and 3rd position receivers to contend on a weekly basis.
	6 (2)	One Angry Gook	4-2-0	Just when you thought the receiving core was dead, it combines for 47 points, including 4 TDs. Plus 35 additional points for WR on the bench with 2 more TDs. Sucks  they all have great games the same week and very little the previous weeks. This hopefully is a good sign for this team.
	7 (4)	Thunder Choads	3-3-0	You want consistent? Try five weeks with scores ranged between 101.68 and 103.27. Only one week this team has scored OUTSIDE of this range at 81.27 points. There is plenty of potential, plus he does have AP, though he does have that ankle tweak from week 6.
	8 (9)	Rutting Bucks	3-3-0	Off to a slow start to the season, yet, this team has put together three wins in a row. It's getting better each week, plus in week 6, five players were on the BYE. With a good chuck of it's team now past their off week, this team needs to put it all together and continue it's winning ways.
	9 (10)	Pimp Juice	3-3-0	Got a well needed win this week, Outside of Tom Brady's 43 point performance, there wasn't much excitement happening. Let me give you the yardage totals from it's receivers and running backs: 75, 100, 101, 104, 107....how many TDs? Zero! No payoff. If it's going to contend in the central, it needs to put it all together each week with yardage and some TDs.
	10 (8)	Grease Slappers	3-3-0	Second lowest score of the week and scoring above 100 points every other week. This was not an above 100 week, but should bounce back in week 7 if the QBs actually play football.
	11 (12)	Buckwheat	3-3-0	FINALLY scored over 100 points for the first time this season, sadly this is the third win of the season for this team, despite the lower scoring each week. This team does NOT play The Stud Stable this season and will not have a high score of the week, sorry.
	12 (11)	Dragons	1-5-0	Had a decent scoring week, but earned another loss and the honor of this last spot this week.

Weekend Recap - Week 6

Commish's Corner....

I swear, the more I play fantasy football, the more unpredictable it gets. This has been the oddest of seasons. It's not marred by injuries like the past couple seasons. Nor is there one dominate running back or quarterback breaking records along the way and victory for one fantasy team. What I'm talking about is different. The era of consistent point scoring from two or three players per team is over. Nearly all teams have gone the New England Patriots method of spreading the ball to ten different receivers per game, not to mention the Running Back By Committee. Trying to predict which one of those ten receivers will have a big game is nearly impossible and it's different from week to week to week to week. No wonder we are all grumbling while searching for half-way quality BYE  week fillers each week, they don't exist any longer. Just when you think your team sucks, it's good again. Just when you think you're on top of the world, you hit rock bottom.

Which brings me to bad weather. If today has taught me something it is this, forget your concern over weather for star players. The only time weather should be a concern is for 40+ mph winds. Mr. Pixie Dust was back with vengeance. 29 of 34, 380 yards, 6 TDs....all with inches of snow falling per hour. Bravo! That was one hell of a performance for old man Tom. I am curious, if Pimp Juice's back up QB wasn't on the BYE week, what percentage of chance would you have changed QBs knowing how bad it was snowing in New England?

I highlight one of the Week 6 match ups. For something happened in it that is quite unique. That's right, the match up between Dynasty versus The Stud Stable. Well, yes it's true, like I said earlier in the week, I did schedule for week 6, Dynasty to get the Win and the high score of the week over Stud Stable. No, that's not what I want to point out. But, that is the last time you'll doubt the commish, eh? What I need to bring to your attention on this game is both teams scored 100% of their possible points. Both teams submitted 100% potential points possible leaving no bench points to drool over. I don't recall both teams doing this in the same week ever in the past. Granted, each team had several players on the BYE and that limited their options, but the players they benched, didn't matter. Nicely done!

Lastly, if the Vikings got a "gift" win, then the Falcons got a "gift" win too. If Desmond Clark would have caught the ball on 4th down and the game on the line, the Bears could have won. That's a gift win for the Falcons because I heard from 'some Bears fan' that the Vikings win was a gift because the Ravens kicker missed the kick when the game was on the line. Is there a difference? Why yes there is....6-0 baby!

Well, the high score streak will come to an end, but will Stickboy's 2 game winning streak come to an end? 38.28 points separates these two teams with the Angry One having QB Philip River yet to play. This will be a tough one for OAG because the game is in San Diego and there is zero percent chance of snow in the forecast. A little bit more from Turner would have helped the cause in the late game. I'm predicting a Stickboy win, just because I believe they are going to get LT more involved with the offence. Though they could throw screens to LT....

Was there really any doubt who the high score of the week would be this week? Seriouly now....when team Dynasty is firing on all cylinders, look out, this team is a beast. This team has now had two 150+ point games after six weeks. Another 100 point week for Stables, keeps his points scored against 1st place intact and falls to 2-4 in the West. Dynasty gets back into the winning column with a 3-3 record and with a little consistency will be a player for the division title by seasons end.

There is a lot going on in this match up to keep an eye on. Buckwheat needs 4 points to top the 100 point mark for the first time this season and has Antonio Gates to play. There is a very decent chance this will happen. Big Daddy needs 41.42 point to catch Buckwheat without any points scored from Gates. So if Gates scores, it should be loss for Big Daddy. Also, 80.14 is the current low score of the week held by Grease Slappers. You need 25.45 points between your two Monday Night players. My prediction is both teams will be 3-3 by games end, but the real battle will be the low score of the week mark.

Two more teams will share the 3-3 record has the Crippled Monkeys tear a new one into Grease Slappers. Perhaps it was fall over from the Tom Brady 65 point gala fest and some of the lost Brady points went into the Monkeys point total column win. $89 dollars for Maurice Jones-Drew doesn't look so bad now does it? Especially after beating the team that gave up bidding on him, right? Monkeys cruise to 3-3 in the Central, Grease falls to 3-3 in the West.

With a lead of 6.03 and two players from Rutting Bucks yet to play....this won will go down as a victory for Rutting Bucks shortly after kickoff. Buck Bucks should earn their 3 win in a row, sitting tied for first in the Central at 3-3. The Choads, should drop to 3-3 and tied for second in the East with Dynasty.

Interesting match up here. I've mentioned Pimp Juice and his Mr Brady quite a bit already and wont repeat any of that here, but I still want to know if you would have sat him if your back up wasn't on the BYE week? So the current lead is 22.11 points, Juice has two running backs to play, Buckhalter has done okay for himself, LT hasn't done much, but one of these weeks he will. Dragons has a QB and a Defense yet to play. Orton has been know for his interceptions in the past, but can also put up the points. I really don't know which way this one will fair out in the end. There are too many possibilities at play....

	2 (2)	One Angry Gook	4-1-0	5 touchdowns this week from his running game alone. This team is starting to live up to it's potential from draft day, but can it score this many points week after week?
	3 (6)	Big Daddy	3-2-0	It pains me to rank this team this high, but it has quietly turned a slow start to the season into a contender. Plus having the number one ranked player Peyton Manning on his roster will do wonders for a team. Manning currently has 12 passing touchdowns and a mere 1645 yards. That is a pace to end with 5264 yards and 39 touchdowns. [career best was 4557 yards, 49 TDs in 2004]
	4 (3)	Thunder Choads	3-2-0	Adrian Peterson, back to form this week and leading the team to victory. ADP faces the Ravens, Steelers Packers and BYE in the next four weeks, so we'll see how this team fairs during that stretch.
	5 (4)	Dynasty	2-3-0	Scored 100+ points, but took the loss in week 5. With Willie Parker coming back soon, we'll see how that effects Mendenhall's scoring, but look at the bench points, there should be enough to make up the difference.
	6 (8)	Crippled Monkeys	2-3-0	If it wasn't for the running game, this team would have won in week 5, it was downright putrid. It was a relief to see Roddy White score points like in the 2007-2008 seasons, if only the Falcons could play the 49ers each week.
	7 (5)	The Stud Stable	2-3-0	A very ugly week, but having three players on the BYE, and two players out for injuries limited it's choices. Will get Drew Brees back now that their BYE week is over, but desperately needs to get the Moss brothers going. This team is also leading in the 'Most Points Scored Against' category.
	8 (11)	Grease Slappers	3-2-0	I will wager that this team will not be sitting Cedric Benson if it's facing a tough match up. Had McNabb back in the lineup and scored 28 points. Can it get off of the higher score one week and lower score the next roller coaster ride?
	9 (10)	Rutting Bucks	2-3-0	I was really hoping to see the 'Ricky Bobby' celebration from OchoCinco if he would have scored a TD. Maybe next week versus Houston. Two wins in a row, tied for division lead and moving in the right direction.
	10 (9)	Pimp Juice	2-3-0	BYE week players and injuries are plaguing this team, I just hope it's not too late to turn around the season.
	11 (12)	Dragons	1-4-0	Is having a string of bad luck with his team....
	12 (7)	Buckwheat	2-3-0	....and starting the wrong players each week.

Weekend Recap - Week 5

Come on now, Derek Anderson of the Cleveland Browns, 2 for 17 for 23 yards and an interception....are you kidding me? I thought the Oakland Raiders were bad in week 4, but this 23 yard performance is down right embarrassing for an NFL team. No wait, the Buffalo Bills just lost to a team that completed two passes, think about "losing to a team that completed two passes" before you continue on this week. TO hello? The Cincinnati Bengals are for real at 4-1. The Dallas Cowboys got a very lucky win versus Kansas City Chiefs and I was so ready to make fun of my brother-in-law who is a huge Cowboys fan. Did it look like the acted like they won the  Superbowl win with that OT victory over the Chiefs? The "throwback" uniforms by the Denver Broncos made me cover my eyes and wear sunglasses when I tried to watch them. I'd like to officially call them the "throw up" jerseys instead of the "throw back" jersey.

(8) Crippled Monkeys vs (6) Big Daddy [112.79 - 112.15] - It doesn't get much closer than this. The current lead favors Crippled Monkeys by .64 of a point. Big Daddy has one player yet to play on Monday night. Under normal circumstances, this is a gimmy win for Big Daddy, however it all comes down to Braylon Edwards. How much will he play after his recent trade to the New York Jets? If he does play, will his hands that are made of cement catch a ball that is throw his way? Buck Buck. It really wont take much for the win, one simple short catch and the victory is Big Daddy's. Still, it's Braylon Edwards and I hear LeBron James will be sitting in the Miami Dolphins stadium for the game.

(7) Buckwheat vs (11) Grease Slappers [63.40 - 102.19] - And I quote "All I need to do is score over 100 points and [Grease Slappers] will win". How true that statement became this week as the Slappers defeated Buckwheat. A frustrating loss for Buckwheat with three players on the BYE, injuries and stud DeSean Jackson not a part of the Philly offense this week. Buckwheat will drop to 2-3 in the Central. Grease with a much needed win left Cedric Benson on the bench facing the Ravens defense who has allowed a 100 yard rushing in 38 games. 120 yards and 1 TD later as a lesson learned. Honestly, the Bengals are 4-1 and one fluky catch by Brandon Stokley in Week 1 or they would be 5-0. Grease keeps pace with OAG's win in the powerful West with a 3-2 record.

(4) Dynasty vs (2) One Angry Gook [100.02 - 119.50] -We have a final with One Angy Gook moving to a 4-1 record in the powerful West Division, Dynasty will fall to 2-3 in the East. Newly acquired receivers for Dynasty took it in the shorts and spoiled the solid performance from the rest of the team. Former Grease Slappers team member, Rashard Mendenhall had another solid week plus another monster game from the Vikings Defense. This team is on a roll after getting off to a slow start, the stud players are finally starting to perform to their expectations and the outlook for this team has turned to the positive.

(1) Stickboy vs (5) The Stud Stable [142.27 - 61.83] - The lead for Stickboy is 80.44 points. Stud Stables has RB Ronnie Brown and the Jets Defense to play. 80 points by these two players is not going to happen. Stickboy, for the second week in a row, will claim the high score of the week. Yikes, someone buy him a bigger sized ball cap. The win moves him to a 4-1 record and division lead in the East. This eventual loss for the Stud Stables may have been expected with three players on the BYE and a couple of injuries on the bench. This will be the only team in week 5 to lose in the powerful West Division.

(12) Dragons vs (10) Rutting Bucks [68.24 - 64.25] - Current lead for Dragons is 3.99 points. Rutting Buck Bucks will RB Ricky Williams on Monday night. If Miami pulls that Wildcat offense crap again, this should be a win for Buck Bucks. If he does earn the win, they will be 2-3 in the Central. If this holds true, if Braylon Edwards makes one catch for Big Daddy all four teams in the Central will be tied with a 2-3 record. If Dragons is to lose this week, they fall to 1-4 in the East. This team is having the bench players score more points than the starters week after week, it's quite a streak of bad luck now.

(3) Thunder Choads vs (9) Pimp Juice [102.20 - 77.47] - Thunder Choads take the win, move to a 3-2 record in the East, one game behind Stickboy. Adrian Peterson scored big after two weeks of sub par performance, plus a fairly solid game from the rest of the starters pushed this team over the 100 point mark for the 4th time this season. Pimp Juice drops to 2-3, as noted, now is in a four way tie for 1st and last place in the Central Division.

Fantasy Rankings - Week 4

Fantasy team power rankings for NFL week number 4. Two teams have a record of 3-1, eight teams have mixed reviews at 2-2, two teams are 1-3. Sounds like a lot of mediocre teams this year with no one making a run at things just quite yet.  We've hit the first week of the BYE teams that always causes a lot of player movement. Plus a new number 1 ranked team....here we go!

1. (4) Stickboy [3-1] - Did he really score 41 points from a defense, one that was picked up just for week 4? Great move, keeps Stickboy's, low score of the season at 96.18 points, a league best.

2.(6)  One Angry Gook [3-1] - While this team may look bad on paper, they are sporting a 3-1 record and a two game winning streak.

3. (1) Thunder Choads [2-2] - Not sure what's going on with AP, but another sub performance this week. Was good to see Slaton perform his first solid week.

4. (7) Dynasty [2-2] - On the verge of making a serious winning streak in this league. A couple more great pick ups last week and scoring points in all areas. [2-2]

5. (3) The Stud Stable [2-2] - A much needed BYE week for Brees in week 5, but there is still plenty of scoring power on the bench.

6. (9) Big Daddy [2-2] - There was a Forte sighting this week and finally this team is on track. Now send out the search party for Braylon Edwards, just don't go looking by Lebron James....

7. (6) Buckwheat [2-2] - Once this team scores consistently from week to week, it will finally top the 100 point mark, until then, welcome to average my friend.

8. (2) Crippled Monkeys [2-2] - The BYE week was cruel for this team as it drops from the number 2 spot, down to here. The only wow factor the team had this week was 'wow, did I really drop to the number eight spot'?

9. (10) Pimp Juice [2-2] - Well, you got the $75 dollar LT back in your line up....well, at least for 1.75 points. You did win, but I continue to have worries for your team.

10. (11) Rutting Bucks [1-3] - Hummm, a couple more good waiver wire pickups this week, players back from suspension and injury equals the first win of the season. Was it the new draft hat after all....buck buck

11. (8) Grease Slappers [2-2] - 6 players on the BYE equals a poor week of scoring. Hopefully your players return or you'll be fighting Dragons for the 12 spot.

12. (12) Dragons [1-3] - Gets Fitz back this week, but two weeks in a row with low score earns this low ranking once again.

Dynasty vs Dragons [82.46 - 64.82] - Two great pick ups this week for Dynasty, started one of them, Mike Sims-Sky-Walker with 23.38 points. The other pick up was on the bench scored 35.88 from Rashard Mendenhall. For the record, his performance tonight was why I've drafted him the past two years, the kid can run. Shame on me for giving up on him so soon this year. Dynasty wins, still has Minnesota Defense versus Packers [man I can't wait for that game] and improves to a .500 record at 2-2. Dragons, fresh off of the low score of the week, will again claim the unfortunate title for week 4. TO did score points this week, plus Derrick Mason scored 17 on the bench. He'll get Fitz back for next week, fresh off of the BYE. Dragons now drop to 1-3 in the East. Have no fear, this team has won it's division 100% of the time.

Stickboy vs Thunder Choads [134.19 - 72.74] - The lead is 61.45 points in favor of Stickboy. The Choads still have three players yet to play: RB Adrian Peterson, WR Percy Harvin, DT Green Bay Packers [plus was one of two teams to NOT start a kicker this week]. Honestly, I can't call this one in favor of either team. The media hype for this game is legendary. You know you're excited to see Favre match up against the Packers, who's not excited? 61.45 is a huge margin to come back and win, but Peterson could score 30, Harvin is the go-to guy and could score 18 easily, the Packers are itching to pick off Favre and run one back for a TD and should score 15....that's 63 points right there....you nervous now Stickboy?

Rutting Bucks vs Crippled Monkeys [70.35 - 67.48] - Yet another match-up to keep an eye on. Exactly 2.87 points separate these teams. Each team has two players yet to play, QB Aaron Rodgers [or Brett Favre] and KT Mason Crosby for Rutts, WR Sidney Rice and KT Ryan Longwell for Monkeys. Rodgers is the current QB in the lineup, will that be the starter for Monday's contest or would you second guess yourself and start Favre fresh off the 301 yard passing week? Officially I'm leaning Rutting Bucks as the winner since QB's tend to outscore WR's. If that is the outcome, Buck Bucks get their first win, Monkeys are 2-2. Again, stay tuned for the outcome....

Pimp Juice vs Buckwheat [83.48 - 80.28] - The lead is 3.2 points for Pimp Juice. The Juice has WR Donald Driver and TE Visanthe Shiancoe yet to play, Buckwheat has Ryan Grant. Personally, I feel a little more courageous about predicting Pimp Juice as the winner for this contest. Can the Packers run on the Vikings Defense? Probably not. This should be a victory for Pimp Juice, if it holds true, now sits at 2-2 in the Central. Which would make Buckwheat 2-2 in the Central tied with Juice and Monkeys and Rutting Bucks 1 game out of first place. If all of the predictions hold true....anyone can still win this division.

The Stud Stable vs Big Daddy [98.26 - 119.80] - We've got a final here folks. Big Daddy, fresh off of his first win of the season will improve to 2-2 on the season and tied, yes tied for the division lead in the West. Stables, after winning two in a row will take the loss, despite scoring 98.26 points, with a record of 2-2. A solid performance, but only 10 points from another sub-par performance from QB Drew Brees. Big Daddy, currently the second high score of the week, with only Thunder Choads to worry about, had a monster week from all players except Braylon Edwards who score 0.00 points. Was this his BYE week?

One Angry Gook vs Grease Slappers [79.36 - 76.60] - Craptastic is what I call this match up. Still with WR Bernard Barrian to play, both teams have score less than 80 points.
