Fantasy Rankings Week 3

We are done with the first round of division games. Now it's time to beat up the other division during the BYE weeks.

	1 (3)	Buckwheat	3-0	Big victory over Grease pushing this team in the driver seat in the toughest division in the league.
	2 (6)	One Angry Gook	3-0	Another decisive win over a division foe. The only area this team needs improving on is the QB position, otherwise a very well rounded team.
	3 (2)	Grease Slappers	1-2	3rd in scoring, 1st in points on the bench. This team has depth going into the BYE weeks. If only it could start the right players, they could be number 1 in scoring.
	4 (1)	Rutting Bucks	3-0	I'm very concerned about the running backs now. I was in awe of the dynamics, but a key injury will hurt this team if Best is out or not at 100%.
	5 (4)	Dynasty	1-2	Had a bit of a let down last week and faces a tough Rutting Bucks next. Needs a big week or you may see this team slump.
	6 (8)	Stickboy	2-1	Surprisingly putting up decent points with a very odd roster ever time I look at it. Looks like they will loose Steven Jackson this week to injury, so we'll see how this team looks next week.
	7 (10)	Crippled Monkeys	1-2	Got it's first win in the division after a very active trading session. So far it's payed off and it appears this is now a team with depth at all positions but the RB.
	8 (5)	Hustla	2-1	Takes a hit this week with more injuries to the roster and a loss. I will give props to the recovery from a disaster of a draft night in the WR position.
	9 (7)	Pimp Juice	1-2	Remember our league curse? The team with the highest paid player has yet to make the playoffs....we are watching you closely.
	10 (9)	Dragons	0-3	Averaging 98.1 per week, not bad, just not enough so far for the first victory.
	11 (11)	Short Bus All-Star	1-2	Beyond Drew Brees, this team is starting out of the gates incredibly slow. There are plenty of big name players but they are playing under the average.
	12 (12)	Thunder Choads	0-3	After showing signs of life in week 2, this team backtracked. It's still early, but a few more weeks of little production will all but end the super bowl champs bid at a repeat.

Commish's Corner....

It's a weird NFL season so far, three weeks into the regular season and two teams remain unbeaten at 3-0, the Cheifs and the Steelers. The Bears and Packers are both 2-0, but after tonight, we'll loose one of them and have three teams unbeaten. On the flip side, there are four teams with an 0-3 record, 49ers, Lions, Panthers, Bills. Take your pick on which of the four is the worst.

An interesting article I read about Randy Moss regarding the effect Randy had on the league and the influence he's had on the league. Here it is:

" Seriously, when Moss stormed the league in 1998 and went on a three-year assault with 43 TDs and an unlawful 18.4 average per catch, it began to change the way teams drafted.  You see, he made them want a game-breaking WR like him, and he made them want DBs to stop guys like him.  From 1994-1999 there were 23 WRs and 27 DBs drafted in the first round.  Then “post-Moss” from 2000-2005 there were 31 WRs and 34 DBs drafted in the first round.  The trend continues on today.  Frankly, Moss should get a residual commission off Chiefs rookie safety Eric Berry’s (drafted 5th overall) $34 million signing bonus this year.

The Moss drafting effect was even greater as I dug into the second and third rounds.  But the biggest copycats were in the divisionwith Moss: from 1999-2004 Chicago had 31 picks in the first 4 rounds and used 11 of them on WRs or DBs.  The Monsters of the Midway used 35% of their picks on WRs or DBs!  David Terrell at eighth overall in 2001...  That, my friends, was their lousy attempt to land a “Moss.” "

Fantasy Rankings Week 2

It's back....you're unofficial fantasy rankings. I've tweaked my formula, changed the methodology, and even brought in a third party consultant. You think you should be ranked higher....prove it, convince me, give me your insight. With that said, here are the first rankings of the year....

	1 (1)	Rutting Bucks	2-0	Jahvid Best, Aaron Rodgers, Miles Austin, oh my....watch in awe.
	2 (2)	Grease Slappers	1-1	2nd most points scored, most points scored on the bench, plus MJD hasn't started playing this year.
	3 (3)	Buckwheat	2-0	Solid QB's and WR's, the running game, with the injury to Reggie Bush and Michael Bush returning makes me suspect, but the rest of the team should pull them through each week.
	4 (4)	Dynasty	1-1	The only problem this team has from week to week is which of the stud players to start. Plenty of talent, but someone has to sit on the bench.
	5 (5)	Hustla	2-0	This team has talent, but this team also has some projects on the roster. If they pan out, this team will be solid, but it could find themselves falling in the rankings if the WR's don't pick it up.
	6 (6)	One Angry Gook	2-0	Another well stocked team. Michael Turner will be fine, plus this team has 12 WR's on it's roster that all produce. Once the BYE weeks start, this roster will be shaken up a bit.
	7 (7)	Pimp Juice	1-1	Putting up some very decent points. Having a solid RB2 would do wonders for this team, hopefully AP will make up the difference each week.
	8 (8)	Stickboy	1-1	Some decent talent here, but another team with a lot of project players. Will they pan out, we shall see....
	9 (9)	Dragons	0-2	The receivers are hurting this team and they are off to a slow start. I recall the concern after the draft how this team could dominate, the potential is still there.
	10 (10)	Crippled Monkeys	0-2	Got the wind knocked out of them in week 1 with the loss of Ryan Grant for the season. Then saw Ryan Mathews sit because of a minor injury. This team is active behind the scenes making deals which could shore up the RB issues.
	11 (11)	Short Bus All-Star	0-2	This team has a lot of great players, but little production out of many of them. It's early, nothing to worry about yet....
	12 (12)	Thunder Choads	0-2	Had a much better Week 2 and left a lot of points on the bench. I almost wrote this team off after the first week. However, the running game is a bit of a mess.

Weekend Recap Week 2

Commish's Corner....

Now I wouldn't say these are shockers, but they do raise my eyebrows. Houston dominates Indy in Week 1, struggles against the Redskins in Week 2. I knew Pittsburgh had a strong defense, but wow! Plus they held Chris Johnson to only 34 yards rushing, his first time under 100 yards rushing in 12 games. The Jets man-handle the Patriots in Week 2 and show signs of having an offense. Vick takes over for Kolb in Week 1, plays like the Vick of old....run first, pass second. In Week 2, he actually looks like a quarterback. The Cowboys and Vikings are both 0-2. Jahvid Best is really, really good. Hey, Jahvid Best and the Lions play the Vikings in Week 3, anyone else, besides me think the Vikings are going 0-3?

Yhe lead is 9.88 in favor of OAG, however SBAS has Drew Brees and Robert Meachem to play over Frank Gore. If the Saints get off to a big lead, look for the 49ers to abandon the running game. I think both teams will be 1-1 in the division by the end of the game.

With a just over 10 point Hustla lead, with two players on Monday night to play, the Thunder Choads should drop to 0-2 with Hustla moving to 2-0, really, 2-0? Chods left a ton of points on the bench, would the outcome been different? We still would have to get through Monday night.

Central Division showdown of the unbeatens. This week will go way of the Buckwheat who had a lot of production from his team, especially the newly acquired Panthers D.

This one is a final, Grease Slappers move to 1-1 with Maurice Jones-Drew scoring 6 points today. Crippled Monkeys, now without Roddy White, saw yet another running back get injured [Ryan Mathews]. Reports are he could have returned if needed. After losing Ryan Grant for the season, this team almost became the leading candidate for Most Injured team of the year.

I mentioned Jahvid Best in the Commish's Corner....I have this feeling that the 47 points scored by Best will not be the most points scored for the season. Best will break that point total soon, I just hope it's not during the week I play him. Rutting Bucks finds himself at 2-0 in the West, interesting start. Potentially this team could have scored 178.64, however at 156.89, this is the currently the high score of the season.

After a slow start, Dragons find themselves in the hunt for a victory. With a different of .05 in the score, it all comes down to Marques Colston versus the Saints D. The winner goes to 1-1 with the loser 0-2. Stay tuned....

Blind Bidding FAQs

Our first week of the new waiver system is here. These are your important dates and information for the Blind Bidding

Q. How much can we spend on blind bidding per season?
A. $100.00 Everyone has the same amount to start the season.

Q. When can we submit bids for waivers/pickups?
A. Bid can be submitted starting at the kickoff of the LAST game of the week.

Q. Why can I not submit blind bids sooner than kickoff of the last game of the week?
A. With the new rule change of being able to pickup free agents until the Monday night game kickoff [unless the game has started for the player you wanted to acquire], the website no longer allows you to submit pickups until every game has started.

Q. When do blind bid waivers process?
A. Wednesday at 9:00 PM. The system will then process these bids and players will be awarded based on the highest bidder.

Q. How much do pickups cost?
A. Weeks 1-10 they are $2.00, Weeks 11-13 they are $5.00. Rosters are locked once the playoff start.

Q. After the blind bid waivers process, can I still pick up players?
A. Yes. You are then allowed to pick up players in the FCFS [First Come, First Served] format. In other words, a free for all.

Q. What if I spend my $100.00 before the season runs out?
A. You can still bid on players, but your bid is $0.00. Good luck at that homer.

Q. So how do we submit blind bids?
A. Exactly the same as last year, except you must include a dollar amount for the free agent you want to acquire?

Q. Can I still make conditional picks like last year?
A. Of course you can. Conditional blind bids are a lot like waiver request waiver moves, in that owners can enter multiple rounds of waiver moves, and prioritize their picks in each round. Each rounds worth of requests is looked at, top to bottom, and the first bid that is considered valid is the one that the system will accept, ignoring future bids in that round.

Q. What if I didn't bid high enough on the free agent and wasn't awarded the player?
A. Bid higher next time.

Q. What if there is a tie for a free agent?
A. Good question. We then revert to the old sort criteria using the 'worst to first' manner. [Winning percentage. Total points scored. Then power rank.]

Q. Can the commish see all of the submitted blind bids and have an advantage?
A. Absolutely. However, once the commissioner applies the 'lock out option' he will no longer have access to this information. NOTE: I will be updating some of the graphics and must unlock my permissions. I will only do this during the FCFS period and will re-apply the lock out once I complete my task. You will see the emails when I do this.
